Medical Hair Restoration
There has been a great amount of progress
in the field of hair replacement and medical hair
restoration in the last few years. Surgical techniques
have improved extensively since the days
when medical hair restoration began.

All hair replacement techniques involve
the use of your own hair; hence, hair replacement
candidates should have some healthy hair, generally at
the back and sides of the head. The procedure is a safe
procedure when performed by a qualified surgeon, however
as with any surgery there are risks, such as post surgery
trauma, bleeding, shock, infections and other
complications after the operation.
Candidates must be checked for high blood
pressure, blood-clotting problems, or skin that scars
excessively, as these conditions may cause difficulties
healing. The idea is to remove some small areas of
healthy scalp containing hair grafts, that will then be
inserted into areas where the hair had thinned from male
pattern baldness. The hair that is used, is not affected
by DHT and thus does not die off, like hair that is in
the receding or thinning area.
Medical hair restoration should really be
a last resort, when you have exhausted every other
treatment. Your doctor who you see, before going ahead
with any medical hair resoration, will advise you that
surgery should be a last option, due to the risks
involved with it.
To simply recommend it, without trying
anything else first, is not very professional, and rarely
happens. Most of the time, they might recommend Propecia
or Minoxidol (usually because they get a commisison for
selling it to you). Many doctors should first advise
you to try a natural hair help (that is, if your hair
loss is not too severe or hasnt advanced rapidly). The
best ones out there will do this, however it can
sometimes be an expensive process finding
them!
Many have recommended and tried with
success, The Ultimate Hair Loss Solution. I
myself have used this product to great effect, and
was particularly happy with the thickening of the hair
that had started to thin, and with the advance of hair in
the crown area. Before you rush off to spend upwards of
$50 an hour on a consultation, give the ultimate hairlos
solution a whirl, and you will be pleasntly
suprised.

Medical Hair Restoration Procedures
There are three main types of grafts:
punch grafts, mini-grafts, and micro-grafts. Punch
grafting takes about 10-15 hairs and places them in the
scalp. This was the leading type of technique to be
developed, but unfortunitly, the first early jobs lookd
pathetic, with groups of grafts that really looked
anything but natural!
The technique has been improved since the
first days of being developed, and the new mini-graft
procedure is the most popular graft form, and one of the
most common methods of medical hair restoration
today.
Mini-grafts contain just 2-4 hairs per
graft and take on a much more natural hair line and
coverage. Micro-grafts are yet again smaller grafts that
contain either one or two hair follicles, and are
placed apart by a small amount to encourage good
circulation.
Local anesthesia is generally adequate
for these procedures, and several procedures are usually
required to achieve the desired result. Post-surgery, a
period of almost 10 days of no sexual or strenuous action
is recommended, as strenuous activity may cause bleeding
from the graft areas.
All emntioned above, surgery is expensive
and has limitations and complications. For this reason,
some people simply go down the track of coverage, as
oposed to medical hair restoration.
Numerous professionals have
developed ways to add hair to your scalp while
retaining a natural look and style. Weaves, fusions,
bonding and microlinks are some of the techniques used to
bond hair to the existing hair or scalp without
operations or surgery procedures.
Numerous jokes were made in the past
about wigs and toupees, and they have gained an
unfavorable light among many people because they were so
apparent on the wearer. Brand-new toupees and wigs are
often made of genuine hair and are very well styled,
causing them to look more natural on the wearer.
These hair pieces can stand even the most
intense workouts and exercise, and stay on very very
well!
You'll need to see a professional for a
proper toupee, and be sure to invest in two identical
ones, so that if one needs maintenance, you have a
backup!
